Ad Solem

Ad Solem is a student-run auditioned chamber choir of 24 singers. We open auditions every year for new members. The choir enjoys singing an eclectic range of music, regularly performing around the North West of England. Ad Solem have also been on tours including Madrid and Kraków. Recent performances include collaborations with the Hallé and an appearance on the BBC’s Songs of Praise.

The choir is directed by Robert Guy, alongside student conductors.

Ad Solem have continued to rehearse a variety of repertoire this year over Zoom and have put together a distanced recordings of Ēriks Ešenvalds’ ‘There Will Come Soft Rains‘ and Schönberg’s ‘Friede auf Erden’.

Covid-19 Update

We are working very hard to adapt both our chamber choirs to fit with the latest COVID-19 guidelines.  We are keen to get live rehearsals going as quickly as possible – hopefully by the end of April.  Until then, we will be rehearsing virtually or even outside (weather depending).  Please follow us on social media for regular updates as circumstances and regulations change.

Auditions

Returning members will not have to re-audition.  We will be flexible and open to people who wish to audition again or to those who did not get the opportunity to audition last year. Students who wish to audition for the first time will do so by sending a video recording of a song to: cosmosingers@universitychorus.org.uk by Friday the 16th of October.  Following your submission, we will invite you to have an informal chat and a brief sight-reading exercise over Zoom.  This audition will be applicable for Cosmo as well as Ad Solem.

Please don’t hesitate to contact either: cosmosingers@universitychorus.org.uk or: adsolem@universitychorus.org.uk if you have any questions or queries.
