Ad Solem is a student-run auditioned chamber choir of 24 singers. We open auditions every year for new members. The choir enjoys singing an eclectic range of music, regularly performing around the North West of England. Ad Solem have also been on tours including Madrid and Kraków. Recent performances include collaborations with the Hallé and an appearance on the BBC’s Songs of Praise.
The choir is directed by Robert Guy, alongside student conductors.
Ad Solem have continued to rehearse a variety of repertoire this year over Zoom and have put together distanced recordings of Anerio’s ‘Christus factus est’, Debussy’s Trois Chansons 1. ‘Dieu! Qu’il la fait bon regarder‘, Ēriks Ešenvalds’ ‘There Will Come Soft Rains‘ and Schönberg’s ‘Friede auf Erden‘.
Ad Solem rehearsals will be held in person from September 2021. Rehearsals will take place from 6pm – 8pm on Thursdays in the Martin Harris Centre. Please follow us on social media for regular updates as circumstances and regulations change.
Auditions for Ad Solem and Cosmo will be held on Monday the 27th September from 1-4 and Tuesday the 28th September from 12-3. There will only be one round of auditions which will be held on Zoom. Only one audition is required to be considered for both Ad Solem and Cosmo. To apply for an audition complete this form here which includes further information about the auditions.
